This is the first in a new series called Popular Guides to the Biomes of South Africa Forest Plants is a 72-page, glossy, beautifully illustrated guide to 107 plants and some of the butterflies, birds and mammals found in forests of the country. The text provides notes on the plants, utilization and gardening, as well as scientific and common names in local languages.

The foreword by Chairman, Keith Cooper, describes Forest Plants as being designed to highlight the beauty, value and importance of our forests and so aid their future conservation and sustainable management. Forest is the smallest biome in South Africa, only ½% of the land mass. This is the first in a series of books which will provide an easy introduction to the plants and main animals of the biomes. It is profusely illustrated and has both educational and popular appeal. Educationists and the general public should welcome this book.
